Unseenamerica is a project of the Bread and Roses Cultural Project, Inc, 1199/SEIU, that gives cameras, lessons, and then exhibits the artistic works of scores of people whose contributions to society often go unseen.  The program puts particular emphasis on immigrant groups, especially those who have been subject to bias and bias crimes (such as day laborers, migrant workers, restaurant workers, and others). The Southwest Center for Economic Integrity worked in collaboration with Bread & Roses and the University of Arizona to bring this national Exhibit to Tucson (Feb. 10 2005-Mar 10 2005)

Nickel and Dimed in the Southwest is a collection of stories written by low-wage workers in the Southwestern United States published on this site.

The hard copy version is an anthology called, People Around Us and is available for $14.95 plus postage. This condensed anthology is the beginning of a much larger more comprehensive publication we hope to publish in the near future.

People Around Us reveals everyday injustices, beauty and courage. It is the belief of those involved that low wage workers' courageous storytelling will move individuals, communities and companies to take action to bring more dignity to the workplace and put livable wages into the hands of workers.
